Pre-Appointment Instructions

1. Review instructions about medications 

Depending on the clinic you see during your visit, we may request that you stop your medication for 12-24 hours prior to your scheduled appointment due to the nature of the evaluation.

Please review the alphabetical list of medications to determine if and for how long you should stop your medication prior to your appointment.

If you are coming for a 2-day evaluation and currently have a deep brain stimulator in place, DO NOT restart any of the medications listed above until you have been instructed to do so by your care team at the Fixel Institute.

If you are not taking any of the medication listed, please continue to take your medication as directed by your local physician.

You should take all other medications and eat a normal breakfast or lunch before your visit.

2. Collect your records & medications

Bring ALL current medications and supplements in the appropriate bottle as given to your by your pharmacy and any relevant medical records or documents with you to your visit.

This includes the following:

  • ALL current prescription medications in the appropriate bottle as given to you by your pharmacy
    • over the counter medications and supplements in their original containers
  • films and/or CDs from any relevant radiological studies (CT, MRI, X-ray, PET scan, etc.) that you have had done within the last 2 years
  • genetic testing results, if applicable
  • Power of Attorney or Healthcare Surrogate paperwork

Come prepared to discuss your records and medications as well as past medications you have taken and why you stopped, past surgical procedures relevant to your condition and any family medical history that may be relevant to your condition.
