Passport for the Day
A Tour of the Norman Fixel Institute for Neurological Diseases at UF Health

Patient Passport
  • Patients and family members check in to the Fixel Institute and receive a passport that is clipped to their shirt or blouse. The passport is a hallmark of the Fixel Institute. It was introduced in 2011 when the former Attorney General of the United States Janet Reno was the first patient evaluated at the previous center location. Now that the center has transformed into an institute (2019), the concept has been expanded and improved.
  • The passport visibly shows the patient, family and care team when and where coordinated points of care should occur.
  • This coordination of care process took many years to perfect and is one of the most popular aspects of the Institute.
