Dinner & Keynote: Kamil Ugurbil

Kamil was one of the first to demonstrate the feasibility of imaging human brain function using MRI, helping to launch the field of fMRI in the early 1990s. He was instrumental in pushing the boundaries of MRI technology to higher magnetic field strengths (e.g., 7 Tesla and above), and this enabled more detailed imaging of the brain’s structure and function. Ugurbil also was a principal investigator in the NIH-funded human brain mapping project that mapped the human brain’s structural and functional connectivity.
