The Fixel Clinical Research Fellowship Award Program is a competitive opportunity for physician-investigators at the University of Florida. This program supports innovative, interdisciplinary research in neurological disorders and aligns with the Institute’s mission to drive scientific breakthroughs, improve patient outcomes, and develop future leaders in the field.

Award Details
- Funding Amount: Based on PGY level and institutional guidelines
- Funding Period: One year (FY27): Starting July 1, 2026
- Eligible Use of Funds: Salary support, research supplies, participant compensation, and other research-related expenses. Equipment purchases must be pre-approved.
- Funding Priority: Applicants that provide matching funds (departmental, philanthropic, industry, etc.)
Eligibility
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria:
- Have completed an accredited post-MD/DO residency training program in neurology, neurosurgery, or psychiatry and be in good standing
OR - Be a pre-doctoral or post-doctoral investigator conducting translational research focused on amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS)
Additional Requirements:
- Be affiliated with the University of Florida
- Be conducting research aligned with the Fixel Institute’s mission
- If applicable, participation must be approved through UF Graduate Medical Education (GME)
