Huntington's Disease Awareness Month
Huntington’s Disease Awareness Month is recognized each May to honor and support individuals and families affected by Huntington’s disease (HD). At the Fixel Institute, we stand with the HD community by raising awareness, advancing research, and providing compassionate, multidisciplinary care. As an HDSA Center of Excellence, our team is committed to delivering personalized treatment, expanding access to clinical trials, and training the next generation of HD specialists. This month, we reaffirm our dedication to building a future where HD no longer defines the lives it touches.

ALS Awareness Month
Each May, we recognize ALS Awareness Month to honor the strength and resilience of those living with ALS and to spotlight the work being done to improve care and advance research. At the Fixel Institute, we take a team-based, compassionate approach to care, bringing together specialists from across disciplines to support patients and families every step of the way. Through innovative clinical trials and a model of fully integrated care, we’re committed to improving quality of life and forging new paths in the fight against ALS.

Tourette Awareness Month
Tourette Syndrome Awareness Month is observed from May 15 to June 15 to raise awareness, promote understanding, and support those living with Tourette syndrome and other tic disorders. At the Norman Fixel Institute for Neurological Diseases, we are dedicated to delivering personalized, comprehensive care to patients with Tourette syndrome through expert diagnosis, behavioral therapy, and access to innovative treatments. By combining clinical care with ongoing research and education, we strive to reduce stigma and empower individuals and families navigating this complex condition.

June 9th: Community Partners in Parkinson's Care
This nationally recognized training program is designed for staff at senior living communities, home care agencies, and healthcare facilities. It offers practical, in-depth education about caring for individuals with PD, helping providers offer more effective and compassionate care. Whether you work in skilled nursing, assisted living, rehabilitation, or hospice care, this program equips you with: - Expert-led Parkinson’s care training (virtual and in-person)
- Educational tools to train at least 70% of your staff
- A direct line to Parkinson’s Foundation resources and support

The Fixel Institute is proud to host the Multidisciplinary Care in Parkinsonism, June 21, 2025 from 8am-5:15pm. Located at: 3009 SW Williston Rd, Gainesville Fl, 32608 Course Overview: This LIVE in-person course (0.8 CEs) will provide healthcare professionals with an overview of current knowledge, symptom management, and multidisciplinary care practices related to Parkinson disease and Parkinsonism. This course will include lectures by experts in the field of Parkinsonism from the Norman Fixel Institute for Neurological Diseases and will include clinical case examples with multidisciplinary round table discussion. The Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) Think Tank is a globally recognized, annual gathering of approximately 100 leading experts in neuromodulation.
