ALS Awareness Month
ALS Awareness Month is a time to raise awareness of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and the challenges faced by those living with the disease. Tourette’s Awareness Month
Tourette Syndrome Awareness Month (May 15 - June 15) is a time to increase understanding, reduce stigma, and highlight the experiences of those living with Tourette syndrome. Clinical Trials Day
On May 20, we not only highlight the vital role clinical trials play in advancing medicine, but also take time to recognize and thank our Fixel research coordinators. Their dedication, attention to detail and commitment to patient care are essential to moving research forward and making new discoveries possible. In recognition of clinical trials day we will offer snacks and light refreshments on 5/20 from 1:30pm-2:30pm in the Fixel Conference Room (1147).

This event brings together leading researchers and clinicians to explore cutting-edge scientific discoveries, develop innovative therapeutic strategies and advance interdisciplinary care models, all with the shared goal of one day curing dystonia.

May 19- Start & Spark
Each month, START & SPARK features a member of our research community leading an engaging, discussion-based session. May’s event will take place on May 19 at 5 p.m., with networking and refreshments beginning at 4:30 p.m. This month’s speaker is Diego Guarin, Ph.D. The session will be held in Conference Room 276 on the second floor of 3011 SW Williston Road.

September 16-18: DBS Think Tank
The Fixel Institute is hosting the annual Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) Think Tank, a globally recognized gathering of leading experts in neuromodulation. Since its founding in 2012, this collaborative forum has brought together clinicians, researchers, and engineers from across academia, industry and clinical practice to explore the latest advancements, address emerging ethical considerations, and shape the future of DBS technology.
With a dynamic, discussion-driven agenda, the Think Tank fosters meaningful dialogue on cutting-edge research and novel applications for neurological and psychiatric conditions, including Parkinson’s disease, depression and more. By encouraging open exchange and international collaboration, both in person and virtually, the DBS Think Tank continues to advance innovation and expand the impact of DBS for patients worldwide.

Research & Technology Innovation Incubator Coming Soon...
The second floor of the Fixel Institute Research & Administration building is being transformed into the Research & Technology Innovation Incubator (RTII). A state-of-the-art hub designed to spark collaboration and accelerate discovery in neurological care. Renovations will kick off later this year! During this time, the second floor will be closed to employees, with restrooms and water fountains available on the first floor only. We look forward to sharing updates as the RTII takes shape and ushers in a new era of innovation at the Fixel Institute.
