A Tour of the Norman Fixel Institute for Neurological Diseases at UF Health

waiting area
UF Health Norman Fixel Institute for Neurological Diseases
  • The Institute members learned many years ago that writing prescriptions for physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy without a precision medicine individualized plan was inefficient.
  • This space was designed by therapists to provide individualized patient-specific plans.
  • The space for rehabilitation was designed by Lisa Warren, Ali Krauss, Meredith DeFranco and Heather Simpson and was
based on many years of experience with adults and children.
  • The cross shape in the middle of the room symbolizes inspiration for patients to lift themselves up through the use of rehabilitative therapies.
  • The space also has private patient rooms surrounding the cross.
  • This space was donated by a generous gift from the Belz family
    foundation.
