Rehabilitation Stations
A Tour of the Norman Fixel Institute for Neurological Diseases at UF Health
UF Health Norman Fixel Institute for Neurological Diseases
The Institute members learned many years ago that writing prescriptions for physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy without a precision medicine individualized plan was inefficient.
This space was designed by therapists to provide individualized patient-specific plans.
The space for rehabilitation was designed by Lisa Warren, Ali Krauss, Meredith DeFranco and Heather Simpson and was based on many years of experience with adults and children.
The cross shape in the middle of the room symbolizes inspiration for patients to lift themselves up through the use of rehabilitative therapies.
The space also has private patient rooms surrounding the cross.
This space was donated by a generous gift from the Belz family foundation.
