Patient Artwork
A TOUR OF THE NORMAN FIXEL INSTITUTE FOR NEUROLOGICAL DISEASES AT UF HEALTH
Image Gallery
If you look at the walls in the Fixel Institute they are filled with paintings and photography from patients.
The patients compete for spots on the walls and their art is judged by a multi-college committee for display.
The purpose of sharing patient art is twofold.
First, it is our core philosophy that the patient is the sun around which we revolve, and so it follows that the walls would be filled with patient-derived art.
Second, the art tells a story of the journey of a patient with a disease. Dopamine, electricity from deep brain stimulators and some medications seem to make patients more creative and likely contribute to the high quality of the collection.
