Outdoor rehabilitation area at the Norman Fixel Institute
One of the great lessons learned from tens of thousands of patient visits has been the importance of providing therapy in an effort to return patients back to society and back to the activities that bring meaning and joy to their lives.
In the spirit of reintegrating our patients back into society, the rehabilitation staff, led by Lisa Warren, designed an outdoor rehabilitation area with different surfaces and textures for patients.
The area includes a putting green; a pond to practice casting with a fishing rod; and a set of stairs complete with a house front door.
There is also a healing path, providing access to tranquil walks around the Institute building.
The outdoor rehabilitation therapy area was donated by a generous gift from Bob and Becky Allen.
