Outdoor Dining Deck
A Tour of the Norman Fixel Institute for Neurological Diseases at UF Health
Outdoor dining deck
The outdoor dining deck was constructed as a nod to Eastern medicine. Too often in Western medicine the focus is on the drug, device or therapy.
We wanted to create a space where the focus was healing and not on the specific medical therapies.
Patients and families will frequently spend the day at the Fixel Institute and this calm, serene view, inclusive of deer and wild turkey, was designed with the idea of healing and in the spirit of helping families in the pursuit of meaning and purpose.
The outdoor area also has access to a nature path, which was designed for patients and families.
The outdoor waiting area was donated by a generous gift from Dr. Bob Dein.
