The Fixel Institute building was founded to provide outstanding interdisciplinary care, research and education and there are over 100 Institute members located all over the University of Florida campus.
Together they create a vital and interconnected network of talent and ideas to drive the next generation of research and therapy.
The Fixel Institute announced in 2019 a gift of $20 million, matched by an additional $20 million, to kick-start a $100 million campaign to build next-generation disease-related research at the Fixel Institute.
Leading researchers from around the globe have recently agreed to move to UF and join the Fixel Institute as endowed professors, including:
MATTHEW LAVOIE, PHD, and his team from Harvard University Research focus: molecular biology, Leucine-rich repeat kinase and protein misfolding
MALU TANSEY, PHD, and her team from Emory University Research focus: neuroimmunology, vaccine, microbiome and therapeutics
STEPHAN PROKOP, MD, from the University of Pennsylvania Research focus: brain tissue repository
MATTHEW FARRER, PHD Research focus: genetic and functional analysis of neurological disorders
