Welcome to the Norman Fixel Institute for Neurological Diseases at UF Health and UF Health Neuromedicine – Williston Road
- The core philosophy of the Norman Fixel Institute for Neurological Diseases at UF Health remains unchanged since its birth in July 2002 as a small program with two faculty members (Drs. Kelly Foote and Michael Okun) and one physician assistant (Janet Romrell). The patient is the sun and we orbit around the patient and family needs, across our clinical care, education and research missions.
- There are five core Fixel Institute disease areas of focus:
- Parkinson’s, dystonia and movement disorders
- Alzheimer’s disease, memory, cognition and other dementias
- Multiple sclerosis & other related Neuroimmune disorders
- ALS and other neuromuscular disorders
- Traumatic brain injury
- Our team collaborates to treat patients with diseases, including movement disorders, cognitive dysfunction and neuropsychiatric disease.
- This building was made possible by over 30 individual donors and a seed gift of $4 million from the Lee and Lauren Fixel Family Foundation.
