By: Grace Huff

In a recent visit to UF Health’s Pathology Laboratory, Interim Provost Joe Glover, Ph.D., got a behind-the-scenes look at the cutting-edge work driving discovery across the University of Florida’s research community. During the tour, Joe Glover, PhD, spoke with two key Fixel-affiliated scientists, Stefan Prokop, MD, director of the UF Neuromedicine Human Brain and Tissue bank, and Matt Lavoie, PhD, Director, Center Of Translational Research In Neurodegenerative Disease, about their collaborative work at the intersection of neuroscience and pathology.

The conversation highlights how UF researchers are advancing our understanding of complex brain disorders through innovative lab techniques and translational research. Drs. Prokop and Lavoie shared insights into their work on neurodegenerative diseases, including how pathology and neurology teams are working together to better understand disease mechanisms and improve diagnosis

The visit reflects UF’s commitment to fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and supporting impactful research that drives better outcomes for patients across the state and beyond.
